September Newsletter

To All WCKAC Members

I think we can all agree that the last month has shown us that the fish are making a good return delivering not just Bonnies, but good-sized Yellowtail and Slender Tuna in between! Let’s hope this is a good sign for what is to come for the rest of 2020!

A very Big Congratulations to our very own James Johnson for taking first place in the 2020 Kantonkel Ronkel and also to Taariq Levack for taking third and Jacques Nel for taking fourth place. Its great to see so many of our club members ranked in the top and playing the strategy game!

2020 WCKAC Club Comps

With 2020 being a “little bit different than usual” and not much time left in the remainder of the year, we will be adjusting the competition schedule.

Our club competitions will start again from September, but each club competition we will announce the winner and he/she will receive a prize.

The schedule of club competitions is as follow:

SEPTEMBERSat 26th or Sun 27thSun Rise17:00WCKAC Grounds OPENCLUB
OCTOBERSat 23rd or Sun 24th  Sun Rise17:00WCKAC Grounds OPENCLUB
NOVEMBERSat 21st or Sun 22ndSun Rise17:00WCKAC Grounds OPENCLUB

By having a winner after each club competition, we will be taking away the top three prizes at the end of the function, but instead have a few spot prizes, guest speakers and an opportunity to meet up with fellow club members and grab a bite together.

August Catch of the Month

Well done Devin aka Cpt. Gingerbeard with your excellent catch of this beauty of a tail! It just goes to show you trying new spots and strategies can deliver the Goons!   That is going to be a difficult PB to better!   If you are not yet following Cpt. Gingerbeard on youtube or Instagram then you are missing out on some secret tips and tricks perfected by the Ginger himself.

We will still be continuing with the Catch of the month and will also be rewarding all winners with a R200 voucher or lure of their choice! Remember that the catch of the month is open to all fishing grounds in South Africa, but must be caught from a self-propelled kayak/canoe.

War on the Shore

The 2020 War on the Shore had to be postponed due to the Corona Virus Pandemic, but good news is that we are still planning on having the competition in this year. (Hopefully by November is the Lockdown regulations move down).   The War on the Shore is a social event and several of the Sponsors prefer to keep it as such, but we will have a look closer to the time if any of the event’s format or activities should be changed.   We are very pleased to see that there is so much support from current and new sponsors and we look forward to giving each angler a unique fishing event!   For more information, please do not hesitate to contact any of the executive team members.

If you have any queries or uncertainties, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the WCKAC Executives.
