February 2021 – Wrap up

And about time! Apologies for the late write up, we just had to make certain all the fish stories were legit & not taken off Google… Just kidding, things were a bit of a rush with the Stilbaai Comp. You know how a 10min offset jetlag can affect ones self.

Well with it being the month of love some of our members got hooked up to all sorts of fishy creatures. Well fish mainly…

Anyways we are well on the way with our league and it might take some getting used to with the measurement requirements for some of our members. Fear not for we are all here to help.

Well also the fact that if you forget to submit a measurement it simply gives you an excuse to go fish sooner…

That being said we have seen some miraculous catches coming from our members being bomber yellowtails to skipjack fever. Keep on flying the WCKAC flag high!

STRUISBAAI TAILS

With a few of our members getting in contact with Guy who has been fishing Struis frequently he gave them a few tips and off they set off.

With some decent tail being landed too! 95cm yellowtail pulls harder than you’d think. Managing to clear the fish from the reefs our members Taariq & Donovan secured themselves some donkey sized yellowtails.

STILBAAI COMP 27TH & 28TH FEB

Our members headed over to Stilbaai to compete in the kayak fishing competition held there over the 27th & 28th of Feb. Loads of bonnies aound with some hairy conditions.

Wind picked up early which in turn picked up the swell, a few members doing some unintentional rudder inspections and being humbled pretty quickly. Yet it was a great event that if you weren’t there then you missed out.

Our members had an excellent time and would love to have stayed a week longer for the perfect weather forecasted. Uncle Murphy strikes again!

We look forward to next years Stilbaai event and more so the upcoming WITSAAAAND competition!

A few catches over February…

See you all next month!
